Bill C-4

Is an expanded version of Bill C-6, passed through the entire parliamentary process, including affirmation by the Senate, on Tuesday, December 7th 2021 without a single dissenting vote. Bill C-4 received Royal Assent on December 8th and became the law of the land on January 7th, 2022. The proposed changes to the Criminal Code by Bill C-4 includes this language, “Whereas conversion therapy causes harm to society because, among other things, it is based on and propagates myths and stereotypes about sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, including the myth that heterosexuality, cisgender gender identity, and gender expression that conforms to the sex assigned to a person at birth are to be preferred over other sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. “And whereas, in light of those harms, it is important to discourage and denounce the provision of conversion therapy in order to protect the human dignity and equality of all Canadians.  What the Canadian Government are actually saying is the Bible is a ‘myth’. This challenges the fundamental beliefs of every Christian and puts the Government in conflict with its own Constitution which clearly states, “Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law.”
